The beginning of the Team, starting from when they were first introduced to robotics.
The Stem Robotics team was created in 2013. It all started with the movie Real Steel. After watching it, Camden Fisher and Kyle Fertig started creating ideas for a fighting robot. The next day, they spent 5 hours watching BattleBots, and were convinced that they had to build one of these. Over the summer of 2013, they spent hours at a time on designs that they liked. They easily scraped over 100 designs during this time. They finally found one they liked, and stuck to it. They just had to find the funds for it. They received a sponsor at the end of the year, and started building their first bot: Horatius. The name Horatius is actually the name of a Roman general who risked his life on a bridge, holding off an entire army by himself. The name Xenos is the Greek word for enemy, and stranger, which makes the two make sense with each-other.
